Swiss investors need to get out of their comfort zone, venture capitalist says

Coming out of the coronavirus crisis, investors remain focused on their own portfolios, but that won’t last long, says Alain Nicod, co-founder of Swiss venture capital firm VI Partners. He laments the lack of “extraordinary success stories” among start-ups in Switzerland, saying the culture tends to be overly cautious. Succeeding as a venture capitalist starts with big ideas and a lot of guts, he says. “We’re in a very comfortable country, so why risk everything big time if you know your life can be decent otherwise?”
